Healthy Eating for Children

  1. Eat together: Make it a point to have at least one meal together as a family. Ensure that the meal times are free of any distractions like TV and games. Additionally, kids are more likely to follow your actions than what you preach. So make it a point that you’re eating habits are healthy if you want the kids to pick up on them.
  2. Eat Slow: Get kids in the habit of eating without distractions and mindfully. Mindful eating ensures that childrens don’t over eat causing problems in the long run. Teaching kids to eat slow is a simple habit that will help keep maintain their appropriate weight from a young age.
  3. Eat often: kids tend to be erratic when it comes to eating. It usually depends on their mood and how engrossed they are in playing which means they will more often than not forget to eat. Make it a point to have a schedule for kid’s meal times. It will keep their metabolism up and them healthy. 5-6 small meals a day work wonders in keeping childrens healthy. Always keep healthy snacks handy and at the front in the fridge and the cupboard.
  4. Drink it: Drinking enough water is a must. Usually depending on the time of the year, children’s water intake tends to fluctuate. However, a minimal amount of water intake should be maintained through the year. Make a game out of drinking a certain number of glasses of water every day to make it fun for the childrens. Keeping kids hydrated goes a long way for them to stay healthy.
